Why are my glue traps drying up?

Carl -

There are a few reasons why your traps might seem dried up:

  1. Exposure to direct sunlight or intense UV light. Make sure to keep glue traps out of direct sunlight; even sunlight streaming through a window onto a trap can dry them out in a few days' time. Shade is their friend!
  2. Exposure to cold temps (below 50 degrees Fahrenheit). Reheating the glue to the standard range will allow it to regain its stickiness.
  3. Extreme temperature fluctuations from very hot or very cold and vice versa can alter the glue's chemical structure over time and make it look dried out and hamper its effectiveness.
